City Announces Traffic Pattern Changes for Upcoming Roadwork

The City of Springfield will carry out traffic pattern changes beginning next week as part of a major roadwork project on Central Avenue. The adjustments aim to improve traffic flow and ensure safety during construction.

Starting on December 20, 2025, certain streets will see temporary closures and detours. These changes will last for approximately three months, affecting daily commuters and local residents. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time.

The Springfield Department of Transportation will oversee these changes, working closely with local law enforcement to ensure safe navigation through the altered traffic patterns. Informational signs will be placed in advance to guide drivers.

This project follows previous infrastructure improvements in the area. Officials emphasized that these updates are essential for maintaining the integrity of local roadways and enhancing overall transportation safety.

Residents can visit the city’s website for detailed maps of the new traffic patterns and additional information on the project. Feedback can also be submitted through the site until January 15, 2026.
